A few years ago, it was just an idea and last year thousands of curious people could already ride around and appreciate the benefits of the new kind of transport at EkoTechnoPark near Minsk. In this park of innovative technologies, new generation transport technologies and their infrastructure complexes are tested, certified, demonstrated, and improved.

What Is This?

This is the SkyWay flyover system. The traffic is organized on pre-tensioned and concrete-stabilized steel strings that are embedded in a closed steel rail and raised to the required height above the ground. SkyWay is a brand of string transport technology and all related systems, thus presenting the market in a simplified way.

This transport is designed to solve the biggest ecological and transportation challenges of our time. As passenger and cargos could move above the ground, streets and roads would be freed from increasing congestion and smog. This would reduce pollution and noise in nature. Ultimately, it could save human lives, landscape ecology, animal migration, and the free and safe movement of people would be ensured.

Modern roads are built at the level of the  surface of a land where the main part of the biosphere of our planet is located: fertile soil, fauna, vegetation, the area of human activities. According to statistics, most accidents occur on roads, as a result, approximately one and a half million people every year are killed and injued. Meanwhile, wars, acts of terrorism, technological and natural disasters claim the lives of around 500,000 people every year. And that is several times less than the number of lives that are lost on the roads.

Lifting the road structure above the ground would prevent vehicles from accidents with pedestrians, animals, other cars, trains, or trees. Passengers on the second level of the traffic would no longer be exposed to dangerous natural conditions such as ice and snow, river floods, asphalt pits and road landslides, fog, rain, earthquakes, or tsunamis.

SkyWay is recognized and implemented in the UAE

The benefits of SkyWay have been recognized by the engineers and politicians of one of the w most innovative countries in the world the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It was decided to include the string transport projects in the UAE’s transport development strategy. Under this strategy, this transport will become a part of a new generation of autonomous transport network and indispensable for the organization of connections between tall buildings and desert areas. The United Arab Emirates is associated with innovation and progress and has already begun to be called the new Silicon Valley of this decade. Meanwhile, the mayor of Dubai has already approved a project proposed by the UAE Ministry of Transport to build a 15 km long urban transport SkyWay route that will connect Dubai International Financial Center with the city center. The new line will have 21 stops and will be able to carry 8,400 passengers per hour in both directions.
