Are Electric Cars the Vehicles of the Future?

Electric cars are becoming more and more mainstream, making people wonder if they are indeed, the future. As the technology that backs electric cars steadily improves, many people are starting to get onboard with the thought of purchasing an electric vehicle. Not only are big automotive companies such as Volvo, promising to produce only electric cars in the near future, but Tesla is also pledging to offer more affordable electric cars. As more people are entertaining the idea of owning an electric vehicle, some may still be wondering if they’re here to stay. Here are some things to take into account when wondering if electric cars are the future.

Better for environment

Electric cars are much cleaner for the air we breathe since they lack tailpipe emissions. This means if everyone drove an electric car, there would more than likely be less diseases in the world and we could all breathe a little better. In return, there would be less visits to hospitals and doctor’s offices. Electric cars are also very beneficial to saving the ozone layer. Of course, no one can stop global warming, but switching to electric vehicles can definitely slow down the onset, which is a step in the right direction.

No gas needed

Everyone loves the idea of not having to ever visit a gas station for fuel again. To refuel, you will simply plug in at home, work, or on the road, just as you do with your laptop and smartphone. Imagine getting home from work and plugging in your charger then going in the house to start on dinner, homework with the kids, or to simply relax. Not only do you have more time, but you don’t have to worry about the harmful effects of gasoline or puddles of gas accumulating in your driveway. Tesla has taken it a step forward by offering convenient charging stations in numerous locations around the world. So, even if you don’t have the luxury of charging at home, you can still find something to do while charging in public.

Low maintenance

There are simply not as many parts that break and need fixing on an electric car as with regular cars. Since electric cars don’t require oil, you will save a ton of money by not getting regular oil changes. Not only will you save money on oil changes, but you’ll save yourself a lot of time spent waiting on that oil change. Since your car won’t be prone to unnecessary repairs, you also won’t have to spend money on rentals while your car is being serviced. You will still need to, however, keep up with your brakes and tires, but they do last much longer than they would on a gas-powered vehicle. Also, you will have to keep up with battery maintenance, and batteries in electric cars can last up to 15 years, which is a great deal.

Tax breaks

In the United States, depending on what state you live in, you may be eligible for a rebate or tax credit just for purchasing an electric car. Every electric vehicle that is purchased comes with a one time federal tax credit, but certain states may add on a little extra. You’re also eligible for a 30% tax credit for the purchase and installation of your very own home charging system. All of this applies to businesses too, so the potential for tax savings is huge and for some people, all the more reason to purchase an electric vehicle.

Quiet driving

Most people who get in electric cars to try them out, brag on how quiet and smooth the drive is. The lack of noise is so appealing to anyone who gets in one. The loud rumbling of a gasoline engine and all of the bumping that goes on under the hood is not very enjoyable when it comes to regular vehicles. No matter what kind of road you’re driving on, you can look forward to a peace and quiet drive with an electric car.

As technology continues to improve and more people going green, it’s only a matter of time before everyone is driving an electric vehicle. So much has changed over the last few decades. Today, we are afforded so many luxuries that just weren’t possible twenty years ago. With the age of the internet, you don’t have to leave your house for shopping like before. We have the luxury of not only shopping, but paying bills online as well. My favorite use of the internet today is reading everyday CBS news and beating my opponents at pokerstarscasino. I love that I don’t even have to leave my house to enjoy all the best casino games as I once did in the past. However, if I did, thanks to this list, I’d do so in an electric vehicle, because they are the future.
